Attractions Overview of Guangzhou

Guangzhou is the capital city of the Guangdong Province, South China and a worldly famous economic, gastronomic and tourist halt city. Also known as "Canton", this major Chinese city influenced by the nearby Hong Kong and Macao is somewhat the first city travelers to China will visit, just like Beijing or Shanghai. The city is indeed located in the north of the Pearl River Delta and enjoys a monsoon sub-tropical climate. Recognised as a high trading center, Guangzhou is also a busy port and an important city that influences the whole country's economy. The sprawling urbanization of the city is getting more and more important everyday: huge traffic lines, never ending flyovers, new modern subway system give more ease to inhabitants and tourists. Worldly renowned for the Cantonese cuisine, Guangzhou is a place where all the surprising and delightful delicacies of China gather. Guangzhou, also known as Canton, is the capital and largest city of Guangdong Province in southern China. It has a history of over 2,200 years and was a major terminus of the Silk Road. Located on the Pearl River, Guangzhou is about 120 km northwest of Hong Kong and 145 km north of Macau. The city covers an area of 7,434.4 km² and has a population of over 18 million. Guangzhou is a significant transportation hub and a leading economic center in southern China. It is famous for its rich culture, historical sites, and delicious Cantonese cuisine. The city is also known as the "City of Flowers" due to its beautiful gardens and parks. Some of the famous attractions include the Canton Tower, Baiyun Mountain, and Yuexiu Park.


Venue Information
Nicknamed Xiao Man Yao(literally means slim waist), the Canton Tower is also known as Guangzhou New TV Tower. It is located in Haizhu District of Guangzhou city, 125 meters from the south bank of the Pearl River, and faces the Zhujiang New Town and Flower City Square across the river. The main body of the Canton Tower is 454 meters high, and the antenna mast is 146 meters, forming the total height of it 600 meters. It is the tallest tower in China and the fourth tallest one in the world when it is built, only behind the Burj Khalifa Tower (828 meters) in Dubai, the Tokyo Sky Tree (634 meters), and the KVLY Tower(628.8 meters) in North Dakota.

Nicknamed Xiao Man Yao(literally means slim waist), the Canton Tower is also known as Guangzhou New TV Tower. It is located in Haizhu District of Guangzhou city, 125 meters from the south bank of the Pearl River, and faces the Zhujiang New Town and Flower City Square across the river. The main body of the Canton Tower is 454 meters high, and the antenna mast is 146 meters, forming the total height of it 600 meters. It is the tallest tower in China and the fourth tallest one in the world when it is built, only behind the Burj Khalifa Tower (828 meters) in Dubai, the Tokyo Sky Tree (634 meters), and the KVLY Tower(628.8 meters) in North Dakota.
Liyuan Garden, or Li Garden, is situated at Genghua Village Tangkou Town, Kaiping District of Guangdong Province. It is a private garden built for about 10 years by Mr. Xie Weili, a local overseas Chinese in United States in 1920th. The whole garden covers an area of 19,600 square meters and blends the traditional Chinese garden style, style of the western buildings and the style of water villages south of the Yangtze River together. The layout of the Li Garden can be divided into three areas: Villa Area, Big Garden Area and Small Garden Area.

The whole garden covers an area of 19,600 square meters and blends the traditional Chinese garden style, style of the western buildings and the style of water villages south of the Yangtze River together. The layout of the Li Garden can be divided into three areas: Villa Area, Big Garden Area and Small Garden Area.
Yuexiu Park is the largest park in down town Guangzhou, covering an area of 212 acres. It is made up of three artificial lakes, and seven mountains, all part of Yue Xiu Mountain, and that’s where the parks’ name comes from. The lakes are divided into three separate lakes; East Lake (dongxiu), South Lake (nanxiu), and North Lake (beixiu). The south lake takes up an area of 5,000 square meters. The north lake is a great place for boat enthusiasts to enjoy themselves, and has a fantastic place for older people to enjoy some exercise, or to just take in some sights while sitting in the shade.

The north lake is a great place for boat enthusiasts to enjoy themselves, and has a fantastic place for older people to enjoy some exercise, or to just take in some sights while sitting in the shade.

Today, it mainly serves a platform for assembly, performance, conference and recreation. Covering an area of 8400 square meters in a height of 35 meters, the memorial hall looks imposing. The construction of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall started in 1982 and ended up in 1983, and funded by Kwok Tak-Seng, a famous Hong Kong businessman who donated HK$ 10 million for the memorial hall.

The construction of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall started in 1982 and ended up in 1983, and funded by Kwok Tak-Seng, a famous Hong Kong businessman who donated HK$ 10 million for the memorial hall.

Also known as Academy of Classical Learning of the Chen Family, the Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family in Guangzhou was jointly constructed from 1888 to 1894 by the Chen families from 72 counties of Guangdong Province of the time. It is a famous ancestral structure of the province as well as a typical late Qing style folk dwelling that is well preserved.
The Kaiping Diaolou, the unique vernacular architecture in the area of Kaiping, are the multiple-storey castle-like houses for the purpose of defence and dwelling, harmoniously integrating the Chinese and Western architectural art into one entity. They reflect, in a specific period and specific region, the historical development of the multi-culture exchanges of the Chinese countryside with the West. They have been generally recognized as a striking art gallery for architecture. Thus, the Kaiping Diaolou, with the remaining number of 1833, is also regarded as a brilliant logo of Kaiping City.
